Executive Summary

Shaping our schools' future with word bubbles

Community Conversations were held at each of our five schools between October and November of 2024. These were advertised through press releases, flyers, direct family contact, social media and other outlets. The Citizen Advisory Committee participated in a session during one of its meetings. A session was held for all staff members as part of a Professional Development Day at Kent County High School. We also opened an online survey to capture additional comments from those who attended sessions and wanted to keep the conversation going.

Capturing Comments and Reporting Out

The facilitators at each table during our Community Conversations recorded the statements and sentiments shared. The tables were covered with large sheets of blank paper that both facilitators and participants wrote down the ideas shared in colorful markers. These comments were then typed and digitized for analysis and preservation.

Comments on each of the five topics from our Community Conversations have been compiled for analysis in multiple digital files, organized by meeting locations, subject areas and question prompts. The summaries provided in the following section are broken out by subject matter. Each section includes the questions asked, fact sheets that provided background information, leading and recurring topics of discussions, questions to be thought about, new and interesting ideas to be explored and staff input form our Professional Development Day session.
